“Create active learning experiences students can’t wait to be a part of.” — Nearpod (opens in a new tab)
“A library of songs, videos and activities for K–12 online learning.” — Flocabulary (opens in a new tab)
Nearpod transforms slide decks into interactives by embedding polls, open-ended questions, draw-it prompts, and quizzes between the slides, with real-time results arriving on your screen as students respond. You can proceed at your pace or allow students to move at their own.
Flocabulary offers a collection of short videos that set vocabulary concepts and topics to hip-hop alongside supplementary learning activities.
Although Renaissance owns both Nearpod and Flocabulary, they aren't complementary tools. Flocabulary is a vocabulary-specific platform; Nearpod attaches to any lesson you already teach.
Nearpod provides opportunities for formative assessment with the benefit of a data trail. You can also get creative with student-paced lessons by offering them as homework or keeping them on the back burner for absentees.
Flocabulary's a great way to frontload material ahead of a challenging new read.
